Parsley Privacy Policy

Parsley is a macOS app, built by Everything But The Name LLC (“EBTN”, “we”, “us”), that reads event details out of text or images you paste and helps you turn them into calendar entries. This policy covers Parsley specifically — it is a separate app from Baud, with a separate, much shorter privacy story, because Parsley works differently: there is no account, no server, and nothing to sync.

1. The short version

Parsley does not collect any information about you, and does not have a server of its own at all. Text and images you paste into Parsley are processed entirely on your Mac, using Apple’s own on-device frameworks, and are never transmitted to EBTN or to any third party by Parsley itself. There are no accounts to create, no analytics, and no advertising of any kind.

2. What Parsley never does

• It does not ask you to sign in or create an account.
• It does not generate or store any identifier tied to you or your device.
• It does not send the text or images you paste to EBTN, or to any analytics or advertising service.
• It does not track how you use the app.

3. Two narrow, opt-in exceptions

Parsley makes a network connection in exactly two situations, both requiring your explicit action first:

• Fetching a pasted image link. If you paste a direct web link to an image (rather than the image itself), Parsley asks your permission before downloading it. If you allow it, your Mac downloads that one image directly from wherever it’s hosted — this request goes straight from your Mac to that server, never through EBTN. You can turn this back off at any time in Parsley’s Settings.
• Opening a Google Calendar link. If you choose the “Open in Google Calendar” export option, Parsley opens your default web browser to a prefilled Google Calendar page. That page is Google’s, governed by Google’s own privacy policy — EBTN does not see or store anything about that event.

Every other feature — text and image parsing, the review form, adding events to Apple Calendar, and downloading .ics files — works fully offline and makes no network connection at all.

4. Apple frameworks used on-device

Parsley uses Apple’s Vision framework (for reading text out of images) and EventKit (for adding events to your Calendar) directly on your Mac. These are part of macOS itself, not third-party services EBTN integrates with, and no data passes through EBTN’s hands as a result of using them.

5. Children’s Privacy

Parsley is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/EEA). Since Parsley collects no personal information from anyone, there is nothing to inadvertently collect from a child either.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
